C4 Headlight motor removal
How do you remove the headlight motor from the brackets in order to replace the gear drive? This piece was not designed with maintenance in mind!

Re: C4 Headlight motor removal (wccavette)
Sorry, don't have the manual at work and am smart enough not to trust my memory on some things, but here is a bump to the top for ya.
BTW welcome.

I did this last summer. It took me 2 hours for both sides and I work slowly. I think the cost for the delrin bushings was $10 for both sides. Be careful not to break off the little screws holding the gear housing cover on. I had to drill and tap two of them out. Clean out the dust from the old bushings. This is an easy fix relative to some corvette projects. Take your time and you will be rewarded with lights that open and close like new!
Bob, I almost forgot.......welcome to the forum! :seeya

I've got to replace the right headlight gears in my 87...What I'm going to use is last months Vette mag. They had an article there with plenty of pics to show you how to do this. I'll be expecting the gears tomorrow from Ecklers...Cant wait to have use of those headlights again, I hate having to open the hood just for that :U

I used a hex ball driver to access the two Torx bolts on the frame under some other hardware.
You may need a drift to remove the drift pin holding the drive to the shaft.
