I am going to "update" what I have in the Vette, but need some advice. The last Plug Wires I am not so sure what I have in there, possibly MSD. The Spark Plugs are for sure, NGK TR55. After speaking with the Service Tech, he came up with two DIFFERENT part numbers for both. Can anyone validate the difference and what are the CORRECT ONES I should go with?

I have an SLP Forged 402, G6X3 Cam, AFR 225 Heads, Upgraded Injectors (Unsure of Lb), B & B BUllets, and No Cats.

By using my VIN Number, he stated THIS is what I should be using:

I believe he said the difference was the above plugs are Iridium and the bottom plugs are Platinum? But there is a big difference in the spark plugs wires as well.

CAN ANYONE STEER ME CORRECTLY ON THIS?

I'm not a fan of all the new material plugs----To me yes they add life--buts that's it NO HP---Irrid or Plat plugs say you change them at 100K of driving But I don't know any well respecting motor head that can not remove them sooner
As far as plug wire go Not a fan of MSD wires as in the past the coil boots were too thick and you don't get a good SNAP when they are installed---and they have been known to pop off--------I like the GM Performance Red wires best--- and the plain old NGK copper cored TR55------TR55's should last 30k easily and if you know hoe to read plugs they are simply the best and easiest to read when new

Get the GMPP wires and the newer Iridium plugs and you'll be very happy with it. Gap for the Iridium is .040; as always check the gap before installing any new spark plug.

Also keep in mind that no plug wire or spark plug will ever add HP no matter what the manufacturer might say. New ones might restore some lost HP but they will never add any.

we use the delcos or ngk.

but as far as wires... you cant beat the MTI wires

My stock 04Z has Delco Irridium. I replaced with OEM irridium and GMPP 8mm red wires rather then the OEM Z06 7mm red wires. plugs from parts store and wires from dealer.

the plugs will be gapped correctly out of the box. Do not gap Irridium or platinum plugs you will likely damage the irridium/platinum metals on the plug. Copper core plugs are designed to be gapped.

Those wires look beefy. What are they? 7mm, 8mm, 8.5mm?

Also do you offer this with a set of Spark Plugs? If ordering, I always like to order complete sets from one distributor/vendor.

I use stock style wires because the beefy ones kept burning from my headers.

Yes, but you should always verify the gap. Mistakes happen and some have found new Irridium plugs with incorrect gaps.

Dont forget thread lube for the plug and Boot grease on the end for easy service next time around.

Not sure about others but the GMPP wires do also retain the stock head shield for the plug wire.

MSD wires are junk. I had a set develop a miss in less than 1000 miles. After much research, I found many others have had the same problems. Unfortunately, I let someone talk me into the MSDs. I swapped back to Taylors and the miss went away. We run Taylors on everything now and I've never had a problem with a set on anything. A set of Sriro Pros are only $54 shipped for a C5.

that's why we use the 7mm over the 8 or 8.5mm. we have our wires on all of our race cars, and we haven't melted any.
