Default Where is the horn Relay?

Hi,

My horn is not working and I would like to do some troubleshooting. Where is the horn relay? I read that it is under the dash on the passenger side -- but can't seem to identify it. Does anyone have a picture?

Thanks for the help!

Hi -- thanks for this -- I ended up swapping out the horn relay. The horns work beautifully -- the only problem is they blow constantly now.

I have the special "Vega" steering wheel in my '76 (I know it ain't pretty but it kind of grows on me and I like to keep it stock). To start troubleshooting I popped off the horn button and checked on the spring mechanism which seems fine.

I saw the blow-up diagram for the '77-'82 steering columns -- but I am not sure if it is different for the '76.

Any advice what to look for before I start taking things apart? Also, my right turn signal cancel does not work -- could this be related?

Thanks!

Your 1976 T&T steering wheel is unique along with the telescope lock and the horn cap. The horn contact parts 2, 3, & 4 are the same between the various years.

Trouble shooting your horn problem should be the same as 1969 through 1975 and 1977 through 1982.

Dave/OP, I had an issue with my horn as well, turned out it was part #7 in Jim's picture. Originally the part was too rusted to work properly, even though I tried cleaning it up with a wire brush and sandpaper it would still only work most of the time and if you pushed on the horn button in certain places. I bought a new reproduction piece and when I put it in the horns were hot all the time. I finally figured out that the contacts that were separated by the plastic piece were actually touching when I put the horn cap on, once I did some bending and tweaking it works fine now, but it don't take much to blow the horn, hope this helps you both
