How do you peen the tubular rivets
The ones I am referring to in this case are the ones used to connect the front window channel to the door post. It seems somewhere I saw a tool for this. Just wondering how to do this properly. Thanks,
Bill

I'm dying to know too...those d@mn things are used in C1s all over the place -- like the rivets holding the seat belt anchors. I've been using regular rivets and filling in the tooled side of them to cover the hole and round them off with JB Weld and a shot of Alum-Blast to cover the cheat.

setting tubular rivets
there's a rivet set designed for tubular rivets, rolling the tube over to resemble an eyelet when finished.
This is a standard .401" shank set, used in a rivet gun or air hammer.
I bought mine from Hanson Rivet Co. Could not find a cheap used one since this style rivet isn't used in the aircraft industry (apparently).
All my solid rivet sets came from used tool dealers in Wichita, and they were very reasonable.

Not the best way, but, I used a hammer on each side and hit them together, it takes a bit of talent, but it works, unless you can't get the hammer on both sides.

Here's what a rivet set for semi-tubular rivets looks like.

Yes, I have used this one on mid year Vent windows with good success. I also see they make a tool that tightens with a specially machined bolt end for the C1 rebound strap tubular rivets that could possibly be used for other applications, but you need enough room to fit that in. Pilot Dan

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems I need to add another tool to the toolbox to do this correctly. Tom @ Zip, which tool would you recommend for this job. Will the 23 dollar one do the trick? Thanks,
Bill

The TL-165 works great, unfortunatly I do not have one here today to try out on the window chanel rivets first hand. Once I do, I would be happy to report how it performs. The small rivet tool is a bit more cumbersome, however once you get the hang of it, like most tools, it's no big deal.
As far as the washer bag goes, if you have the bracket out of the car it would be a breeze, in the car it might be a bit too big to fit.

If the rivits are 1/8 inch in diameter then most every airport will have a brake pad rivit tool that might work. Best if you can get to both sides of the rivit with the tool.
