The plug for a 6 qt pan should be on the rear edge of the pan, not on the bottom. This is a correct one.

When I said bottom, I meant where it's relationship is to where found vs. the 'side'. I still consider this position to be the 'bottom' albeit the very end....Sorry if it made this confusin....

The pan shown in post #5 on eBay appears correct, however, that pan requires a flat windage tray. The curved windage tray is used with the L82 4 quart pan.

Oil pan ID
Looking from the front gasket surface the drain plug is on the lower right side. Directly below the bulge for the dipstick tube.

Oh ya, the curved trays will fit ANY SB pan. I have one on the SB400 in the boat with a 57-62 style trap door pan and one on the SB400 in the Chevelle with a stock 4qt Chevelle pan (which has a flat bottom to clear the Chevelle front cross member).

Tom, I wouldn't say that the curved trays will fit "ANY SB pan"...
Although I've used the curved windage tray (pm 3927136) with the 6-quart SHP oil pan (pn 359942) as pictured in the eBay link in post #5 on two different occasions, HOWEVER, it did not fit without interference - this interference required some bending of the baffle structure to work with the curved windage tray. On the other hand, this same 6-quart SHP oil pan DOES work without modification with the flat windage tray as used on the 1965 SHP small block Corvette 327s.

And you are correct. I probably should have mentioned that a SLIGHT adjustment is required. The specific reason that I used the curved tray in a pan on a SB400 is because the flat pan WILL NOT work with a SB400. NO WAY, NO HOW!!! That counterweights of that long 400 crank hit the flat tray, thus, I use the curved tray on SB400s.
