V-12s are cool, but it's power & performance that counts!!!!!!!!!!
That engine scores high on the uniqueness scale but if you want performance equal to that go with a lightly modified LS engine.

I've seen very few jag motors in chevy, ford etc.
But I've seen a slew of sbc in jag bodies ... without fail each one resulted from need to replace a failed jag motor at reasonable cost.
Jag motors etc are nice to look at & can make good power but nothing else makes grunt as economically (HP&TQ/$) as sbc ... but gm LSx may be there already.

The General did build at least one V-12 Corvette. It was a C4 that used the Falconer V-12. A Falconer was a Small Block Chevy that had 4 more Cylinders. GM made the Frame and Body longer between the Firewall and Radiator.

The Falconer would be nice -But at $65K -would sort of bust my budget....
The General also built an Impala w/ the BMW V12 engine. From my understanding it was to study the drive by wire technology-

For example the V12 BMW 850 had topspeed electronically limited to 250 km/h ( 155 mph) in Europe and it did 0-100 km/h in about 6,3 seconds. I'd say that engine has plenty of oomph even in stock state.
Since nobody has said it yet: I'd like to hear the sound of that somaday.

Thanks guys-
Before I pulled the motor from the donor car- I sawzalled the muffler off and It really sounded good. Not to mention thanks to Platinum prices on the rise again I got $350 for the old cats!!!
Here's the latest- I'm working on the cooling system-
Dewitts radiator w/ twin spals- looks like I'll use the stock BMW Expansion tank- up nice and high so I'll bleed the air out of the system really well. I still have plenty of room for a mechanical fan- but I've got to run the air -which I might pull out below the radiator?

It's really amazing that such an engine can fit a C3 chassis, and keep everything under a stock hood.
Very nice job, Richard !
Did you set the new engine at the same angle ( transmission ) as the stock GM V8 or is it slightly different ?
Looking at the pictures, it seems that the new V12 is almost horizontal.

As far as the placement of the motor- I used the crank centerline on the Chevy engine as my reference when designing the mounts for the BMW V12. So -yes it's be at the same angles as the stock. Also going w/ a dry sump- I have no clearance issues at all.

They are just bad to the bone. Yes, your stock XJS v-12 was a very smooth, but junky boat motor.

I''m really happy w/ the way it fits. Ironically, It'll be a heck of a lot easier changing plugs on this motor than the old LS-5!!!
Here's some mock up intake covers- What do you think?
