Default Replacing CABIN AIR FILTER (CHEAP)

Went to the dealer yesterday and they wanted 79$ for new Cabin Air Filter. (HELL NO)

Went to Advance Auto Parts (AAP) website and found cabin air filter for 2006 z06 (part number C25623) for 9.48$

I called AAP and they told me it was 11.48$ - however, i told them that i seen this on their website and then they priced matched it.

So, I got it for 9.48$ + tax

I think I saved about 68$ with this move. I also read that a lot of folks on this forum use this AAP air filter and have no issues with fitment or anything.

just FYI in case you need new air filter - 9.48 at AAP.

Take care

I will do you one better. I removed mine for the first time earlier this year and found that it was relatively clean after 30k miles. Shop vacuumed and re-installed for zero cost.

Gene Culley at gmpartshouse.com probably could have gotten them for at half price, what you got for $10.00 was a cheap paper filter, the GM and the high end WIX is a HEPA filter, they can filter out allergens and bacteria, it says you are a new member, what year is your car? why do you need to change filters already?

The filter he put in is not just a cheap paper filter. It has activated charcoal to help eliminate odors, etc.

In comparing to the stock filter, in fact, they appeared to the naked eye to be identical.

My filter is dark and dirty after 3 and half years use and 27600 miles.

It is a 2006 Z06

and also LANDER is right, it is not just a cheap paper filter, it is charcoal for odors. (fits good and its cheap - cant beat it)

Either way, just sharing this price with those that want one.

Once i pick it up thursday - i will take picture of both so you can see why I am replacing and so you can see that this NEW filter is exactly as OEM but 60$ cheaper than dealer.

Later
pics to come thursday

take care and hope this post helped someone out there!

Peace

Yea, I just replaced mine with a Purolator for about 11 bucks. I've heard the GM one has charcoal in it but we run these cars 'open top' a lot so what's use. Good move. By the way, I was surprised at how dirty mine was at only 20,000 miles.

Well, if anything I am fair. While I would have enjoyed leaving a neener-neener to your response, unfortunately, I can't.

I called their PRO office and this is not a charcoal filter, it is a particulate only filter. (C25623).

So, I stand corrected.

I had my car at the dealer Monday and the mechanic working on my car said my interior had an odor, he pulled out my filter (27,000 mile 06) and showed me how nasty dirty it was. I went to the parts counter and they were out of stock (luckily) and told the mechanic what was up and he showed me how to replace and even used some spray to clean the air ducts out or something while having the blower on and the filter out, made a big difference anyway went to AAP last night and ordered one and it should be here tomorrow or Thursday and will change it out.

Good post, good find!

According to the WIX website, the cabin air filter is p/n 24480, and is "charcoal impregnated". Cost? $18.99 from O'Reilly's.

I might try that one out next time, but at least this information is out here now for folks who need it.

Good information. Does this lower cost filter have the charcoal stuff like the GM AC/Delco filter?

The cabin filter I bought from AAP does indeed have a charcoal inpregnated and has been working fine for about 8 months now. I know it seems too good to be true, but sometimes you can avoid the corvette tax.
