What are the specs on the GM 151 cam?
What are the specs on the GM 151 cam? I have the stock L82 cam out while I do several projects. It looks good, but I will replace it since it is over 30 and I have it out. I want good low end and vacuum to operate the car as it is now. With the Turbo 400 and 3:36s my RPMs are 3200-3400 at hwy cruise with stock aluminum wheels. I really dont think I need a 5000-6000 rpm cam. A good low end bump will be fine I just dont want to go backwards from what I have

You may also consider a recurve of your ignition timing... THAT will show the greatest improvement (if you haven't done it already) over the cam you are considering as the GM 151 cam is nearly identical to what you are running stock. Rebuild/Tune carb, free-flowing exhaust and you are off to the races!

he used the Chevrolet "151 cam, while I used the SUMMIT 'house'-brand (I believe General Kinetics ground them? ), with .450"-lift and 218* @ .050"-lift diration, and while transmission, rear-gearing, cylinder heads and intake were the same (I used a Holley 650 double-pump, he used his Q-Jet ), my car usually out-ran him by .05 to .10-seconds at the strip, and got the same MPG figures, too.
Does General Kinetics still prvide SUMMIT with camshafts?

Have one in my vette; cheapo 350 GM crate with Trickflow heads, headers and 600 carb; good off the line and good mid range torq; peters out about 5000-5500 rpm's but all and all a good street cam
