Ordered a set from TomZ wheels. Haven't got them yet but my installer and alignment shop said they've been around for a while and are good tires.

Just wanted to chime in with some cold-weather commentary on these bad boys!
This morning, we had clear skies and dry roads so I rolled the Vette out and drove her into work. Temperature was 11° F. We all know that performance tires in particular don't like cold roads. Well, these Vredesteins are no exception but they still hold quite well. I noticed that during a WOT 3rd gear romp, I only felt occasional slight squirminess from the rears; no traction control engagement occurred. I'm not about to test the cornering ability at these temps, but I was pleased to see that the degradation due to temperature was less severe than expected. Responsiveness seems to be unchanged in general, as long as you're not pushing the envelope on performance.
In all cases, if the roads are cold... BE CAREFUL ANYWAY!

I'm not a Corvette owner, sorry, but I'm somebody interested in getting a set of Vreds for my, um, German car.
Anyway, I've read everything in this informative and lengthy thread and appreciate the info. My question is to those who have purchased these tires very recently: Where are your tires made? What does it say on the sidewall? I'm curious because Vredestein has two manufacturing facilities, one in Holland and one in Thailand.
Because of their very competitive pricing, I'm wondering if these are made in Thailand (or maybe their tires made in Thailand are subsidizing the ones still made in Holland?)
I'd sort of not want my tires to be stamped "Made in Thailand." :o
(From what my mechanic tells me, Vredestein tires are technically Russian. Several years ago Vredestein Banden B.V. was bought out by
the Amtel Group, a privately held Russian company based in Moscow.)
Thanks for your replies!

jbla,
My tires are stamped with "Made in Holland" and I purchased them in February. My brother bought a set a month later, also stamped with "Made in Holland".
I've never even heard of these tires coming from Thailand, but I'm pretty sure you'll get a product of Holland. If in doubt, you can always ask the vendor you purchase from.

Here's some good info on these tires. They are not made anywhere in Asia. I had Vredestien tires on a 240Z in the 70's so they have been around for a while. They also made an ultrac with a tread pattern that looks like flames but they are no longer available. They were also about the same price as Mich. This is a reputable tire company that sells millions of tires on the other side of the right pond. Very hard to beat for the price. As people catch on they will go up. Get them while they are hot and cheap. I have a 2nd set of rears comming soon. Want to have them on hand before they go up. Tomzz has the best price right now!

I ordered a set today (225/45/17 fronts and 245/40/17 rears)
I'm looking forward to putting them to the test. If they behave nice on my German car, I'm going to put a set on my Swedish car
I've never owned a Made-in-Holland Russian tire before
Many thanks to all you Corvette drivers for this thread......!

FWIW, I knew about Vredestein from their bicycle tires. Their Fortezza series are expensive but sticky super excellent road tires.

Thanks, Alaskanpilot! I emailed Vredestein this morning and they replied that all Sessanta tires are indeed made in Holland. I'm assuming that some truck and industrial tires are coming out of their Thai plant.
