Plastic Rivets????

This is amazing to me. Just an indication that Corvette vendors should care more about quality. The vendors should specify "clear" rivets instead of white. I'm sure the Chinese manufacturers would do it right if the vendors started to reject inferior lids. We are talking about rivets that probably cost one penny each.

Hi Buddy,
I bought 2 sets from you if you remember.
I used 1 set with mixed results. Installed, they look great from the top of the shield, but I had trouble deforming the underside to look like the originals. When I heated the rivet shaft to deform it, the plastic became brittle and wanted to crack off from the shaft. Having a LIMITED supply of rivets I really couldn't experiment with various temperatures and methods. Any suggestions?
The catch is that since the shield comes off for NCRS Flight Judging, the judges will get a look at the underside, since they check for the oval plastic insulator.
Regards,
Alan

Sorry Guys,
I had several issues trying to get these done with the correct material. They are not as clear as the first batch but look very good. The first batch was acrylic which allowed me to flame polish to a clear finish. ( $20 set of 4 w/ washers ). Limited amount so first come first serve.

Thx...BuddyM

This thread will be closed due to it being a commercial post for sales by a non supporting vendor. I'll not delete this one as yet so people who have made orders can contact Buddy by PM .
