It's activated in your name based on the Customer Delivery Record (CDR) that is generated by the dealer sales process.
I seem to remember when I bought my car 1 year ago, the salesperson wanting to help activate the onstar and I told him I would do it myself (I never did like the thing in my other GM vehicles). That would explain my nonfunctioning onstar and the lack of need of wirecutters.

No, no, I would never make fun of you. I really thought you could use your sixth sense to drive. I had a feeling you were someone really special. Now I know you're just like the rest of us humans. On a more serious note, do you use the oven roasting foil? Would saran wrap work as well? If so, it wouldn't be necessary to cut out eye holes and you could wear sunglasses over the stuff as well.

If you don't renew it it will not work anymore. They don't bother listening to or tracking people who don't pay their bills. As for worrying about it when it is active you really should seek help from a mental health professional. They have millions of cars with the system activated. Nobody has time to worry about what you are doing and you aren't important enough to get them interested.

Never tried that. Great idea, I think you might be on to something. I'll try anything to get those "black helicopters" to quit following me.

This was just an attempt at humor. I do realize now that they can't hear in-car conversations. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. By the way if you had read the thread correctly, you would understand that my onstar was never activated from day 1 by choice. It wasn't a matter of not paying the renewal bill.

Good thing I drive with the windows down all the time! They couldn't hear me if they wanted to. It would be just LS7 engine noise!

You heard about the onstar evesdropping thing too? Does opening the windows really help?

Default Temporary disable onstar

Hey folks...I don't have a vette but could someone tell me how to temporarily disable onstar on a 2012 Malibu. Like for just a few hours?

Wouldn't pulling the J4 plug be a guick way to disable your car when staying at a motel, etc. Unplug when you go to bed, plug it back in after breakfast.

Best place to dispose a body would probably require no onstar and 4x4 to get there. Just FYI. Otherwise someone will find it!!

Oh and leave cell phone at home!

I saw a post that the 2012 GS has only three plugs instead of four, and the unit is up by the passenger dash. Does anyone know if this is the case with a 2012 Z06?
Thanks in advance.
