Can you run a Rectangular port intake with Oval heads?
I have heard that this was an old racers trick. Does this work? help? Hurt? I have a chance at a dual quad c66r but have oval heads. Will it work??
Thanks

I did it thirty years ago - when I was in High School and didn't know any better- and the neat looking Offenhauser High Rise intake was only $25...and that was all I had in my pocket!
Went to the parts store to get an intake gasket set-and the guy behind the counter (in those days ACTUALLY knew about cars) asked me if I needed oval or rectangle- I know I looked like a deer in the headlights.
Go it to work but as I remember I didn't do anything for performance-in fact I think it hurt it.

Will the car run? Yes it will. Will it perform no. The intake manifold is an extension of the cylinder heads, the port shape is critical to keep the air speed and velocity constant. just a bad idea.

Thanks guys that is all I needed to hear. I will keep looking for a C66O dual quad intake. If I don't find one used at a good price I will just by a new one eventually.
