Russ,
I apologize if I'm late in responding. I can post in threads just fine but I'm not up on all these visitor's messages and friend requests yet. I just noticed you inquired about Lingenfelter and if the engine was replaced or just worked on. In the case of their 403 package conversion (which is a completely built motor top & bottom) you could do it either way. If you want to retain all the original numbers they can rebuild your original, factory engine. Considering the extent of the work and how back-logged they are this can be quite time consuming. I had the work done at 21st Century Muscle Cars in Dallas being Dallas is a lot closer to where I live than Indiana. If I wanted to keep my numbers intact, once I got my car to 21CMC in Dallas they would need to send the engine back to LPE in Indiana for the extensive rebuilding. LPE said even if I dropped my car off at LPE in Indiana the work would take 12-14 weeks. There was also an issue with headers...it's OK if you bring your car in with headers on it but LPE won't install them. 21CMC in Dallas didn't have a problem installing headers.
More importantly, when I talked to owner of 21CMC in Dallas, he said if I sent him a deposit he would have a new LPE '403' engine waiting for me when I dropped the car off at his shop. He also said he could pull my stock engine, install the new engine and do all the other items I wanted and have the car ready to roll in 4 days! That worked for me!
I've never clicked on a visitor message before but I'm assuming you will get this. I appreciate your interest and I highly recommend both LPE and 21CMC. The entire experience went extremely well and despite regular, hard use the LPE has performed flawlessly for almost 3 years now.
Best regards,
Wayne
