Your fan pieces look OK to me. The Center piece middle holes point forward as oriented in your picture. The side pieces oval holes will sit on top of the frame rails on each side and point downward...

Nothing noticeable as the bad shock still resisted on the down stroke. I would have to believe there would be uneven action with spirited driving though as it needed to be "pulled" upwards to return.
