Mark,
Just wanted to touch base with you regarding my experience with Altantic Tire (AT). I received the Nitto Tires (555 ZR Extreme) from Discount Tires Direct in two days after placing the order, they were great to deal with.
Made appointment with AT to have tires mounted, balanced, and front end alignment. I got to shop around 9 am and dropped car off. Car was done by 11 am. Everyone was good to deal with and shop guys seemed to know what they were doing and took care of the car. All prices were all as they had previously stated on phone.
Drove car home in traffic and could not get over 60 mph. A week went by and I drove the car to Carlisle on August 26 up 83 and PA Turnpike. From 0-60 mph, it glided along, but from 62-68 (to me) there was a very slight shake in the steering wheel. After reaching 70 + mph wheel was fine. This to me indicated a balance problem.
After returning home, I called Atlantic to tell them of the situation. I took car back and they had car for 2 hours and said everything was now fine. They said they checked the balancing, but would not tell me if any of the wheels were "off" from the previous balancing. I took car up to 62-68 range on way home and it's now fine.
While cleaning the wheels before putting in garage noticed one wheel had some adhevise (wheel weight glue) near one of the spokes (where weight was). Then about 3 inches from that was a new set of weights. They had appearently rebalanced all the wheels and one was "off" slightly. My only thing was, why didn't they just tell me one wheel was "off"? Where they afraid I would get mad? don't know. It would have been OK for them to say, we found one wheel off, sorry for the mistake.
Because of the their location, I don't know if I'd go back again or not. (I'll see).
how are things going?
