Hi Debby, some time ago you posted a recommendation about the best Holley carbs, I remember one was a truck carb, the other I don't recall. I have a friend here in NZ that is placing an order to the USA for some parts including a carb. Could you please advise what the two carbs are so I can pass the info along?

    Best regards from New Zealand

    Hello there
Thank you for your input into my post "simple mods to L82. I have petty well gone with everything you advised; with the exception of the heads, due to the added costs of Tax and freight; probably another grand on top of the cost out of of the States, I have decided to look at heads from Australia.
I have added a link to two pairs here on eBay!!!! I realise they are probably inferior to the US items, however I am not trying to build a race car, just wake the old girl up a little.
    Regards and thanks

The 750 HP is a style of carb that Holley has made for several years......it is a racing series carb....idle and main air bleeds, four corner idle....and the cloverleaf main body with no choke horn. Mine has been worked by Avanti and I added a billet baseplate with high flow blades and screws for about 785 cfm......
It is one of the best and also one of the most expensive carbs they make.....works extremely well and is very coveted in the engine scene.
The street manners are wonderful.....I have 9 inches of vacuum and it idles with quite a rump as you know.....but smooth as silk just off idle.
The Team G is fine....this is a 406.....very different animal....torque as flat as Kansas and will spin them is first and second with just the throttle......I run a 3:36 gear and a Muncie M-20.....it is just right.

I saw you mention a Holley 750 "H.P." carb, is that a typo? I have a Team G manifold available as well. I would usually think a single plane isn't best for the street, but it seems to be working for you. You got a stick? How are the street manners? Ever hit the strip, or dyno? I am running a 4 speed and 3.55 gears, andSuper Comp-style header sidepipes.

I have listened to that video of the 406 about a dozen times. I plan to build somewhat of a clone of that engine; I have a good 350 block, but I got a 400 last night, don't know if it's got a good block yet. What pistons did you run to get 10.5:1 C.R.?

    Hi Jeb:
Thanks for the advice on the '62 Carter WCFB...I'm holding off the float adjustment until after a car show on May 20th. I'm taking you advice and removing it from the manifold before I attempt the adjustment. In the meantime, I've been online trying to gain some knowledge on WCFB float adjustment, I'm a little worried about loosing the power piston springs/ accelerator check valves. Anyway...I've learned something new about my '62 and I appreciate your comments! Thanks!

    Hey Jeb,

Remember last week I posted up a question on dynamic compression/static compression? Well I'm looking for an opinion. I think I'll feel safer if I lose a point of compression. I was thinking I could lose 2-3 cc from the pistions by blending the valve reliefs pockets. I think I'd rather do that than try unshrouding the valves in the AFRs. If I'm gonna stuff things up I'd rather stuff up the pistons than the new AFRs!

Thanks for the comments - "Stout wheel tire combo.....great color!
Hard to put big wheels on these and make it look right....good job!
Race for Pinks????!!!!! " - your '66 looks neat - maybe too fast for my old '65
