    Biography
I was an automotive designer for 22 years in Michigan. And I was an aerospace designer in northern Virginia for 6 years. Now back in Michigan.

I grew up outside of Flint, MI, the heart of Chevrolet at one time, and I've always loved cars. I think the C6 is one of the most beautiful car designs ever made.

Oh, Rob. I was just noticing something I wrote in my post to you, pertaining to the Talladega event. I should have said, would you and your family or friends have any interest. If so, I would be happy to email you a link or two.

Oops! I blew it. Sorry for not responding sooner!!

With regard to the C3, the 70s vette in the pictures, unfortunately, that is not my car. It belongs to another Forum member--the one who took my photos, actually. We are gearing up for another shoot with some different vettes so I will keep you posted!

Do you have any vette clubs in your area that you participate with?

    Hi Rob,

I had NO idea that my new name is the same as your license plate. Very cool. The administrators from the Forum helped me to get it. Apparently there are two other Detroit Muscle user names in various forms.

Driving on the track at Texas Motor Speedway was really cool, however, not as exciting as it could have been as we were majorly limited on speed. Last year, there was a fatality at the event which caused the event directors to rethink the track event. The pace cars would not let us get over about 90 mph. But! For those of us who had never driven on the big oval, it was exciting to say the least. Now the autocross and road course events...that's a different story altogether.

The autocross events were quite wild. There were crazy storms running off and on throughout the day. My friends who competed said it was a blast. I heard hail was expected and since there are no garages or awnings to hide under, I opted not to participate that day. Nonetheless, my diehard amigos played and raced to their hearts' content.

And, the beloved road course. There were about 3 professional Corvette racers there with beautiful, beautiful Vettes. Then there was another troup of professional drivers leading teams of beginner drivers on the course. Once again, I did not participate, as I had just had surgery on my back and legs and thought it would not be wise to be jostled around. (Autocross would have been a lot safer.) My dear friend won the road course and autocross events, and my friend on the Forum, Sherry (iFlex2Fitness) won 2nd place in the car show. Great weekend for my friends in my Vette clubs.

I'm thinking about driving to Alabama to go to the Emerald Coast's Corvette Event at Talladega. I heard they let you drive on the track and go much faster--like 135-50 mph. Any interest?

You know, one of the things I like best about Vette owners is how darned nice they are! I have yet to meet one I don't like. I wish every Vette owner had access to clubs and events like we do in Dallas. Just today, beginning at 6:45 am, my Vette buddies and I were together at a car show; tonight some of us were going to meet up at another show. And, tomorrow, we'll be at yet another show. It never ends and I never tire of it. I'm just obsessed with cars. Well, Vettes in particular!

I went to Detroit last week to visit family and run a few errands. It was really beautiful.

Tell me more about the Corsas. I was just talking with a guy today about Corsa versus Borla. Since I have a 2009, I could not get the Corsa. I have the Z51 exhaust and just threw a Mild to Wild on it for the time being. I want to have some work done on my cam--really wanting that deep ticking, mean sound. Have you done anything to your cam?

    Hope you are well!

    Hi Rob,

You know, I don't think I responded to this. My sincere, sincere apologies. You may have noticed that my user name was changed. It's still me, but it had to be changed for safety reasons. Oh well. I kind of like my new name--reminds me of home.

Oh, Dallas is a wonderful city. A lot of transplants complain that Dallas doesn't have a true identity, (meaning anything that stands out when you think of the city), but I don't know that having something iconic makes a city fantastic. Honestly, it's the weather, the people, the economic climate and cost of living that makes Dallas desirable.

The coolest things to see/do around here would have to include the museum dedicated to the assassination of JFK, taking a tour of or going to a game Cowboy's Stadium and Ranger's Ballpark, seeing concerts at the American Airlines Center, visiting the Arts District, going to the Fort Worth Stockyards and FW Zoo, spending time on one of the area lakes, going to Corvette Get-to-Gethers (they are all over the DFW area--several times a week), going to dinner at some of the "town centers" (which resemble like a Birmingham type atmosphere) in any of the Dallas suburbs, going to an Indy or NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway (or going to the NHRA Drag races in Ennis, TX), going hiking, biking, rollerblading, etc. virtually year round. There are many, many other things to do, but I bet if you asked a guy, you'd get an entirely different set of answers.

Speaking of the coolest things to do in the area, I just attended something today that makes the list. We have a Corvette Club in town, Lonestar Corvette Club, which hosts an annual event at Texas Motor Speedway for vette owners. Friday is autocross racing, Saturday is a car show/vendor sales in the covered portions of TMS with test drives in GM vehicles outside the venue, and Sunday is track day. I posted a bunch of pictures, but the thrill of driving on the big oval can't be conveyed in a picture. Additionally, there was road course racing, which many professional drivers and amateur drivers participated in. I wasn't up for trashing my tires or getting paint chips, so I only drove on the oval. Nonetheless, it was amazing. Just amazing. Maybe you and your wife can come visit Dallas and partake in the event.

Speaking of intimidating the boys...Sherry won 2nd place in the car show yesterday. I think the boys are intimidated, to say the least. We had three car loads of women on the track today. I cannot tell you how exciting that was. We were the only female drivers out there and we drove in a pack. Too much fun!

You are in Maryland? Perhaps I misread your profile. I hope the weather is improving on the east coast. I thought I heard that temps were below average and that there hasn't been a true season change yet--that the temps keep dipping down periodically.

    Any new mods lately?

    Hi Rob,

For the most part, I was raised in Bloomfield Hills. I've lived all over Oakland Cty. though. Before relocating to TX four years ago, I lived in Ann Arbor, which I think is one of the greatest American cities. I earned my teaching certificate there and chose to stay on after graduating because I was enchanted with the city and people.

Where in the Detroit area did you live/work?

My whole family worked in the automotive industry--well, me, my grandmother and many of the men, I should say. Most of them worked for Ford. I worked for Buick and Chrysler for about 4 years total before becoming a math teacher. (I no longer teach math. My current profession is an Executive Asst., which enables me to have a set schedule, greater income, and more time for my hobbies and life in general. I've thought about going back to school to become an engineer many times...maybe some day.)

I'm surprised you didn't land a job here in Dallas (Lockhheed or Bell Helicopter) or in Houston. If you ever do, let me know. The Corvette community is VERY strong and vibrant.

Do you know my friend on the Forum, Sherry? (Iflextofitness). She has a yellow '05 Vette that she's done a ton of mods to. She is amazing. She does all her work, when possible. She and I met at a Vette get-together and hang out often. Complete inspiration!

    Cassandra

BTW- like the way you described your mods "show" and "go". Cool.

    Hi Rob,

Just wanted to thank you for your kind words on the Forum post, "Girls and Vettes.".

I, too, am originally from Michigan. I grew up in the automotive industry and am a complete car fanatic. My dream was to do exactly what you did in Flint or be a mechanic!

    With Kind Regards,
    Cassandra
