Hi, Tim. Yes I used the original MAF that was on the car prior to the swap. I had a superram on it before the swap and had my chip from Ed Wright in Tulsa, Ok. Originally I had a mail order (from Ed) when I had the engine built and then about a year later went to Tulsa and had it Dyno tuned(this was still with the superram installed). I'm using that same tune with my FIRST. I will say. Ed will tune on the conservative side and lets some hp on the table in the name of engine reliability, so yes, mine runs a tad rich. Other than that, the engine itself runs like a raped ape. I also have had tranny problems in that my 3-4 shift has been slipping when at WOT. I hear that is common among 700R4's. I have contemplated rebuilding it but decided a 5spd swap may be more fun for driving. Do u have capibility to data log? If so, contact a mail order tuner of your choice and have them review the logs to see if your engine is operating correctly. My only gripe with the FIRST was the EGR that I couldn't get to work. I think ur tranny issues are seperate from the FIRST or any engine lack of power. Are u sure the transmission cable is adjusted properly? What tune are u using now? U are from Chicago, right? I'm sure there has to be someone in a large city like that, that can still tune OBD1 L-98 cars. U may want to get another opinion on ur tune. May also be a computer problem. If I keep my car, sometime in the future, I'll probably do a swap to FAST or Accell DFI to make tuning easier. Hope this helps and hope u get your car running and get to really enjoy driving it. Tom.

Hey Tom, Sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could give me some help. I have an 88 vert that I put a ZZ383 crate motor in. I topped it with the first fuel injection. I was just wondering if you had any trouble getting it to run well. Did you stick with the original Mass Air Flow Sensor? Did you use the computer from you car, and who tunes your chip.My car wont shift correctly unless manually shifted, and it sounds strong as hell but doesnt go anywhere when you hit the gas. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks Tim Conlan
