John, we installed a new Sermershiem front end on my ‘66. I’ve seen several original 66 BB cars and it appears the 427 fender emblem is not level to the fender/side chine on both sides. Were the 427 fender emblems installed tilting slightly down in the back from the factory? Trying to decide if I want to duplicate this “feature”. Thx

Hi John, Found an old C2 water temp gauge post. You described how to ck to see if gauge is good by removing green wire at sender and leaving open and then grounding. If gauge reacted by going from full cold to cold hot I take that to mean the gauge is ok? If gauge is showing and artificially low reading it would mean the sender is at fault? I've used 2 different senders and they both put out same reading at gauge, around 180. All this sound reasonable? Shouldn't temp on gauge increase when car is shut down after running? Thanks, Steve

Hello john, I have a number of new pics on the thread. can you give me your opinion what's strange is the broach marks are identical on the drives side Deck as on the pad side. and they go all the way through front to rear. also your take on the June dated 321 block if you may??
    Thanks, Ed

John, I did not want to start another thread on tank stickers, but am wondering about the hand written number on the sticker vs. the vin. I currently own Rick Montgomery's 67 coupe. He passed in April. I do not know if you knew Rick? He was an Exec. at GM for many years and retired to Bowling Green where he gave tours of the museum and handed keys to new Corvette owners. He built a 64 Grand sport from scratch, and has written articles for Vet Views mag. He was a personal friend of Zora. He seemed to be very knowledgable of c2's. Anyway, I have a complete history on the car back to 74'. I found information in this history that states that there is a relationship between the two numbers. Was he incorrect?
I have had 3 67's, Nowhereman(Keith) has one of them. All 3 had vin#'s within 2 digits of the # on the sticker. Just lucky I guess?? Anyway, thanks for your time and all of the great information and support that you give here. Best, Jim

    Hey John, in this post

    https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1567159315

you mentioned that the ignition resistor for 63 high horse was 0.3 ohms rather than 1.8.

Why wouldn't all of these be the lower resistance? Doesn't that provide a higher spark?

    Thanks,

    Hey John.
I have an issue with my '64 front drum brakes. My new front drums have NO knockout on them at all (the rears do but they seem impossible to remove). How do I do the initial adjustment to tighten up the shoes? Or do I just keep hitting the brakes until they tighten on their own.
I saw your post (in 2011) to another member re: the brake issue so I wanted to get your thoughts.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi John
Looking at some of your threads, you might be the man to talk to.
I have a 67 small block that overheats.
I have rebuilt the motor, new block, rebuilt heads,(2 different sets) every part has been replaced at least twice (water pump, new aluminum radiator, vacuum advance, changed therostats several times, changed expansion tank caps from 15- 18 put in a electronic fan (pull type),have a 7 blade fan.
when at an idle or in traffic it overheats. this has been going on since 2010, do not know what else to do.
