Mako63, i am about to pull the trigger on the parts you recommended for my 383 build. Quick reminder for you: AFR 195 heads w/8019 spring upgrade (75cc); Howards hyd roller 110885-08; Howards retro lifters; Edel Proformer intake; QF 680 cfm carb; Comp rockers (1.52 ratio). So here is my question: I will be swapping out my TH350 w/a 2004r so I can have OD (would like the lock up option as well). Should I go ahead with the engine build and then get the correct stall in the tranny based off of the build or plan on the tranny/stall first then cam accordingly? Gonna stick with the stock 3.55 rear-end and stock 15 wheels. Obviously I will be running headers (but would like to know your advice on type header also). I really value your knowledge on the forum and appreciate all the great advice you give. Sorry this is so long...Tibbs

Hello,

I am in need of your opinion on the setup I am running in my 75. I have a 4 bolt block bored to 4.030, with Eagle cast 3.75 crank, KB 135 18 cc dish hyper pistons. Camshaft is a Comp roller XR276HR. Up top is a set of AFR 195's with a dual plane intake and 1 770 Holley, MSD 8360 ignition, no box.

Behind this is a Richmond 5 speed with a 3.27/1 first gear 5th is 1/1

with 308 rear gears.
Question is that on the tall end this thing pulls like a big block but a littl short on the low end. The cam seems very mild to me in that at idle it does not shake the fenders. any ideas on a different cam ?

Sweet looking ride....
I posted "need more HP" and you gave great advice on heads and top of the motor. How about if I rebuild the bottom of end. If I take the block to the shop to be bored and machined, do I have them shave the crank also? What pistons and rods should I put in. Thank you for your advice and experience.

I'm pretty sure you had posted you use Amsoil for your rear end, was it
Long Life Synthetic 75w90 Gear Lube or Severe Gear Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) 75w90 Lubricant
