Bill, I am wanting to try out some HPDE/road race stuff with the vette and was wondering what classes you suggest first in taking? I know driving lessons/improvements first.

    Goodmorning Bill.

You replied to my post on flushing coolant in my 2019 Zo6 with details and pics (thank you). If you could please tell me is the intercooler system independent of the engine coolant system ? I ask this cause I am a moron and poured 1/2 quart of oil in coolant tank which I pumped out and cleaned tank with dawn. But after I refilled and drove I noticed slight sediment on top of coolant and if I am going to change coolant do I only have to worry about engine system

    Thanks Bob

Bill, I need your expert advice. I'm buying a car in Louisiana Z06 . It's a 2017 Since its been there a while should I ask them to change the oil ? Its a new car with 11 miles. Also should I ask to see the PDI? I may need to drive it home which is 1600 miles. Should I get my 500 mile oil change on the way home or can I wait until t get home ? Any other advice is much appreciated. Thank You Paul

Hi again! It was my brother whose '92 vert led me to being obsessed with Corvettes. He brought that thing home when I was 10, and it was just the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. Then he gave me a ride, and although I couldn't really see over the dash, I just couldn't stop grinning. Of course, it's even more fun now that I can actually drive/own them and that I found someone who shares the passion. We'll be sure to look for you at the NCM HPDE! Really looking forward to it - we haven't run with that group yet

    Evening Bill,

I have looked through the site and tried searching for corner balancing information for a '99 C5 Base model. The car is new to me and was purchased to serve as a dual purpose car.

Two years ago I sold my track dedicated LS powered 944T after 10 years of driving and instructing. The C5 is my excuse to get back to the track on a less complicated basis.

I live in Northern Virginia and I have not been able to find a shop that has Vette expertise in corner balancing. I do have an excellent shop that set up my 944T, and they could do the corner balancing if they had the preferred settings. I did find information that the Z06 is balanced a bit front heavy, but nothing really definitive for the C5.
I would rather not have the shop guess on this.

If you have any experience with the proper balancing specs for the C5, or could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Marc

Hello Bill. Do you have any experience switching tires from side to side? Currently running Bridgestone RE-11, my LF seems to get more wear at Sebring (based on how much the pressure increases compared to the RF). I did a search on the forum but didn't come up with any info. I would appreciate your advice.
By the way, just finished a weekend with Chin @ Sebring, first track day with (new to me) 13, GS, M6 (traded my 12, GS, A6). Much to learn on tracking the M6 but enjoyed having a car better suited to tracking ( much lower temps all around even with ambient temps of 88 degrees). Any words of wisdom on the care and feeding of the M6 when used for track days would be most welcome! Hope all is well with you and yours.

HI Bill. Thanks again for all your posts.

My first track day keeps getting delayed as i really want to have piece of mind that everything is running in top shape.

Simple question for someone with you depth of knowledge- Concerning tires.....

I have 4000 miles exactly, on my Cup II's. Very light miles. The only time i really have ragged on the car is at the drag strip. The tires do seem to be in fairly good shape.

For a first track day in the car...Would you think it is okay to use the Cup II's with 4000 miles on them? My goal for the first track day is to keep it between the lines, shake the car out, and enjoy a bit...Or should i just go ahead and get new ones?

Sorry for the noob Question, but i am a noob..

    Thanks.
    Jon
