Z06 Seat Height Lowering

Z06 Seat Height Lowering
Hey folks,
Are there any kits out there that may lower the C8 Z06 driver's seat 1-2 inches more? I'm 6'1, 180lb, with 1 inch spike hair, with GT2 seat at lowest point, hair is constantly brushing the convertible top. And yes, there are chances that I won't be able to open the convertible top, unfortunately.
Or maybe its time to change my hair style....lol

Same dilemma. I have an HTC. Would never fit with a helmet. I drove a coupe at Spring Mountain with a helmet on. Barely fit but it did fit. Next C8 will be a coupe. More headroom for those of us with long torsos and short legs (the “Corgi” body proportions). Sorry, I can offer no solution for the OP. I too have looked into this before. BTW I am 6’ tall with shoes on.

I’m 6-5, did research and everyone seems to say, very little can be gained as the seat rails are low. I can only fit in a htc

one of the few perks of being short, I can fit in most all sports cars.

I need 2” more headroom for a helmet at 6’6” tall, really wish there was a solution to use the stock seat so I don’t have to buy a side mounted race seat and side mount rails, but I don’t know of any other options for me. Probably have 9 more months wait, so hoping someone can share something!

This subject is so a over the place. Other threads say and show images that the htc has considerably more headroom than the coupe 2 to 4" more.
I ordered a 3lz HTC z06 in the December allocation run because the other posts and few videos on YouTube that covered this subject indicated htc was the safer bet for tall folks.
I'm 6'4" with even proportions.
Anyone have a htc z06 with gt2 seats that could lower the seat all the way then place the tape measure at the seat surface where your butt would sit and show height from seat to roof ?

I don't know but I have gathered from previous discussions that it depends on how far back the seat is. I am tall too, so I am interested.

move seat about 2" forward from furthest back position with seat bottom parallel to floor
"rocker" the entire seat about 2-3" back so that you feel your butt lowering and thighs rising
angle seat back back about 1"
that should give you more head room,
you can also move seat forward and just angle seat back back to a more reclined position.
neither is optimal, but you get more head room.
Also, the coupe has more head room than an HTC.

As someone who has owned a htc and a coupe… anyone who says a htc has more headroom clearly had the top down. Because for me it isn’t close. In the coupe, my head sits just in front of the lowest roof support. I’m 6’2” with a longer torso. I could only drive my htc with the top down or my neck tilted to one side. Definitely no helmet and I’m not even sure I can wear a helmet in a coupe. But I’m going to spring mountain so maybe I’ll learn a trick to the seat or something.

I suggest looking in the normal C8 section. The interior is the same. There have been a number of threads on the topic. Mostly it is about seat positioning. There many people taller and bigger than you that fit fine. Proportions do matter.

I think the key is torso/leg length as a percent to total height. I could fit in the coupe but it required the seat to be forward and the seat back to be in a more vertical position to get my head in the pocket of increased headroom in the coupe. This was an unlivable position for my legs and spine.
In the HTC the seat is 100% back, down, and 95% back. In this seat setting, the HTC has more headroom. This was impossible in the coupe because of the support beam behind the seats. In this picture. My head would hit this bar.
Besides lowering the seat more, the only thing I wish is the steering wheel came towards me 2 more inches.
I’m 6-5, 35 inch inseam, 36 inch sleeve length, 200lbs, swimmer build.

The B pillar is the problem in the coupe. At 6’6” and a “petite” 300lbs of muscle converting to fat as I age, I fit fine without a helmet and have plenty legroom. Problem is I need 2” + for a track helmet. Good news is a sparco/tillet race seat with side mounts to a bracket mounted on the floor gives 4” more head room. Bad news it’s it’s another $3500 or so for the setup and I’ve got mismatched seats and am not using the beautiful gt2 seat that otherwise would work great for me on the road and track. Guess that’s still way cheaper than a HTC that I don’t want, and am pretty sure even without the B pillar a helmet would not work for me in a HTC. This is primarily a track car for me, but it’s an annoying situation. I fit with a helmet in my gt350R and my past Ferrari 360 just fine. Guess I’m glad I have plenty leg room in the c8, but it’s still annoying to have to do an aftermarket seat.

For those that are really tall, an Option for you to consider is to take the car/seat to an upholstery shop and see if they can cut down or replace the padding. This will keep your stock looking seats and gain you some height and possibly better quality padding. I’d imagine this would be one of the least expensive options.

I've owned both and posted about this a bunch.
1. The coupe has more room overhead if you can fit in it ahead of the b-pillar; this is not up for debate
2. The HTC has more room when reclined for those who are 6'5+ who have no ability to fit in a coupe
So the answer completely depends on your body constitution (legs vs. torso) and if you are attempting to wear a helmet. I'm 6'4" w/ a 34" inseam and I cannot fit in a HTC with a helmet in any way. With the coupe I can just fit. I too would prefer the seat 1" lower but the only option is aftermarket seats which I've looked into but never pulled the trigger.
A well known forum member posted a video early in the C8 cycle claiming the HTC had 2" more headroom, but his measurement was not well done as it was with the seat reclined and measured top of seat to nearest headliner trim. People on Facebook and here ran with it and people will firmly tell you the HTC has more room, when they've never owned both or even sat in both.
PS I also parked one of each side by side at Spring Mountain and tried both with a helmet. This was while I had my HTC. I went:
2020 coupe
2021 HTC
2022 coupe
2023 Z06 coupe

I am pretty sure you gain 4.5” headroom by sitting a thinish seat on the floor with side bolts and a new bracket. At 6’6” this seems my only option for a helmet, unless someone makes some super low manual rail for the stock seat to get 2” more, but I don’t think there is even that much to save with a different rail

There is nothing you can do to the stock seat other than try shaving padding, but I'd wager that may be worth 1/2" max, if even that. The controls and frame are already on the floor of the car.
