Default Car sounds....better?

I got my first Corvette, a 2024 HTC, in Dec of last year. I will admit, I'm getting more and more comfortable as time goes on. I feel like it sounds....different. There are burbles and pops when decelerating, which I like. Is it possible that something has actually changed? I'm just over 1800 miles. The only thing I can think of that I changed is using Z mode more often. I was using My mode where the exhaust and gear shifting were in track I believe.

I have a question. If I'm cruising along and drop the gear using my left paddle shifter, the car is going to rev. What would happen if you're somewhere around 3rd of 4th gear and you drop the gear and immediately go back to the gear you were in? Would it produce any particular sound?

Z-mode gives a much more aggressive sound, with higher upshifts and more aggressive downshifts. I drive in Z-mode around town many times for the sound in traffic.

Sooo.....In MyMode you cannot set the engine/shift to track - it is defaulted to Tour. But you can set the engine sound (which I think is what you mean by "exhaust"). In Z mode you can set engine/shift to track as well as engine sound. With engine/shift set to track, the throttle progression is increased and the car tends to favor lower gears - which is going to sound different.

This is all true but consider most exhaust systems have about 1000-1500 miles of break in where they do get a bit louder. Add a more aggressive drive mode and for sure you will notice a difference.

Z mode does not change the sound unless that is the way you have it configured. Do you have the performance exhaust? If yes you will be able to adjust the sound. Beyond that it sounds like you’re experiencing the engine adjusting its tune as it adapts to your more aggressive driving which would result in different (better) sound.

I have my daily drive mode set through, "My Mode". Other than on start up the engine is fairly muted. I have the exhaust set to track.

I felt like my car was far too quiet when I first got it. I thought I had possibly made a mistake by selling my Challenger, but it has really come alive somewhere after 1500 miles. I'm also getting more comfortable, so I may be driving it better as well.

I do have the performance exhaust.

Be aware the manual says not to use most quiet exhaust setting on the highway.

Interesting where in the manual did you see that? It says not to use stealth for performance driving or track driving but nothing about highway. I use weather mode all the time on the highway with no issue. I just ctrl F both weather and stealth in the manual and found nothing about not driving on interstate?

That right. There is one caution about engine sound setting of stealth in the Track Events and Competitive Driving section. There is a second one in the description of the settings that says don't use stealth for "spirited driving", "auto-crossing", or "high speed tracks".

Use your own judgment - it does not specifically say high speed driving. However, I would not be using stealth on very hot day and sustained highway driving even at 60-70. For one thing, what would be the reason anyway to use Stealth for that condition? I have used the Weather Drive mode in heavy rain, but then I'm not driving fast or spirited.

I use it because its the quietest and most relaxed driving mode when in traffic. It retards the throttle and smooths out shifts so bumper to bumper is easier to manage. I take high speed as over 100mph not 60-80 in normal traffic. I am going to keep using it I think. I go 6 miles on interstate and only do it in the mornings with traffic. Can't be doing much if any damage imo.

I do not see a problem with that either. Even in Tour mode, or with Engine Sound set to Tour, the tailpipe flow control valves are "closed when the engine is idling and during normal/non-aggressive driving. Valves open during aggressive driving." In other words (or maybe the same words), in Tour mode they will be closed all the time during relaxed driving - they only open for aggressive driving. And there is no caution about Tour mode.

You are probably just getting used to the car and its Z mode settings. I have z mode set to highest level engine sound and shift. My first year I was almost always automatic tour but as I began to play more I switch to "Z" more often "M" more often a higher rpm shift and a lot more engine braking by shifting even in "A". I enjoy the sound a lot more and can quiet when returning home. After 3 years with this car I am still trying new settings such as yesterday I found I can turn off ESC and using the Launch technique I can quickly shed $100 worth of rear tires !!!
