I am in the process of buying a c7 2018 z57, didnt this car have some sort of factory emblem on it stating it was a z51. I could be mistaken. Thanks

Negative, Z51 is a package. Not a model. Emblems are after market.

Yep, those emblems/decals are not factory.

Folks insist on calling their Corvette a Z51 instead a Stingray, don't know why??? As others have stated, it's just a performance package RPO code.

Exactly, it is a Stingray with a Z51 package. It has no Z51 badges, just the Stingray emblems and Corvette script.

Enjoy the Z51 for what it is.

I call it a Z51 Roadster because of the fun and entertainment, the sheer speed and handling it has when I push it down PCH, a mountain, or canyon road.

The top down, dialing in the Magnetic Ride, listening to the roar of the NPP exhaust, the tunes, the wind, and smiling to myself when the space widens between me and the basic cars on a twisty back road.

It is the reason VW afficionados call it a 23 window Van or Chevy P/U guys call it a five window. It is the sheer pleasure that the vehicle brings them and is different from the rest, it is descriptive.

There are four badges on a Z51 that let you know what it is and it has NPP Exhaust.

The Z51 cars have the dry sump oil system, which is a bit more complicated/expensive on oil changes (if that matters to you).

We trudge on.

Had a 2014 Stingray with the Z51 option package, it was nice, then graduated to a 2016 Z06, which was a tad nicer.

The Z51 came with the NPP Exhaust, so you could dial in the extra 5HP. If I recall correctly, there was a Z51 Appearance Package which had the looks and none of the juice. I do not know what those exhaust tips looked like.

Here's what you're referring to. It didn't come from the factory so many of us added this to the vent section where the Z06 and GS emblems are found on the wide body cars. I get a lot of comments from folks. Non-Corvette owners think it came that way and other Z51 owners want to know where I got the emblems. They're decals sold on ebay.

Because when the C7 was introduced in 2014, the Z51 held a model listing on the order form. You could order a base, a Z51 or (in 2015) a Z06. Back then, the dealers referred to the cars as a Z51 model. Remember, until 2016 if you wanted mag ride you had to get a Z51 (or Z06). Later, with the introduction of the GS in 2017, the Z51 became an RPO code option for the Stingray model. Also, about that time (during the 2016 model run) mag ride became an option on the base model.

Just a minor addition. As of 2015, that statement is correct. However, in 2014, NPP was an option on the Z51 just like the base. The vast majority of 2014 Z51s came with NPP and a number of the Z51s that didn't have NPP were mistakes.
When I started looking to buy a C7 the local large Chevy/Corvette dealer had a 2014, Z51, Vert, auto, 3LT, special wheel package, special paint option and more, and the sales person forgot to check the NPP option . I was looking to buy just as the 2016 models were being delivered and this poor dealer was still stuck with that brand new 2014 for almost 2 years.

I do find all these things fascinating. For those who haven't done this for your particular year vehicle - you can Google or look up on the NCM site, the production stats for each year. Lots of interesting stuff on how many cars were built with what options, colors and packages. When you look at this, you can get an idea of how unique(or not) your particular Corvette is.

I'm curious, does anyone have or seen on a dealer window sticker or build sheet stating the vehicle is a Z51 model?

Another after market option you may see is this. It’s not a decal but rather more of a trim piece. Some place it under the Stingray. I preferred it placed above. Others sometimes place it on the rear bumper or spoiler area. Very stylish IMO, but still subtle.
