Default Thinking about ZR1

I have had a couple ZO6 cars and just sold my last ZO6 about three months ago getting ready to buy a c7. Well, looks like a long wait, so I am looking at C6 ZR1 cars.
I think my last ZO6 lost value at about $5,000 per year while I had it. Anyone have any input as to how much the ZR1 is depreciating by the year if you buy new? I am looking at what I should expect to pay whether I buy used or a new Zr1. Thanks everyone

agree.......you're right, at least 10k, 10-15k easy. It's a car, doesn't hold value, regardless of what others may tell you

Default Wow

I hope no one is paying sticker price on ZR1 cars. I thought loosing $5,000 a year on my ZO6 cars was bad. A lot of dealers dont act like the value is going down when they try to sell me one. Ha! thanks

A new one will run you +-110K. If you wait until the new model is out there have been a few dealers post the leftovers on here for 99K new, but it requires you qualify for all the incentives and you have to take the color they have left. It is usually one or two in stock cars, maybe even a demo.

Nice low mileage used ones are everywhere in the 75K-85K. Not been many changes between years. The big ones are, PTM add in 2010 and the seat and transmission change in 2012. If you are patient, you can find a deal on the exact color you want. Most of the ZR1's had ebony interior and 3ZR option. So odds are that is what you will find in the used market.

I was going to order a new one in January of last year. But in my searching around I ran across a 2010 with 2400 miles on it. It had a lot of extra's (710 LPE package, extra carbon fiber, 9500CI radar det, and front/rear cameras) and it was 27K less than what I could order a new one. It has been a GREAT car. It has 13447 miles on it now, I put almost a 100 on it today just "going for a ride".

Oh...and don't be afraid to travel for the right car. Just have a fellow forum member check it out for you. That is what I did. The 1800 mile drive home from Georgia via Bowling Green to Oklahoma was a blast.

The longer you wait, the more days go by that you could be enjoying your BEAST. You can't put a price on that

A new one comes with a full warranty and YOU know what has been done to it .

Depreciation on any new car will be 20% the first year and 10% after that.

Yes !!! Noticed it right away !!!

On topic. Slightly used with low miles should be good for you. It will cost you less depreciation over all.

edit: found what you guys were talking about. scuffed the wall at PIR? track damage, never turned in. man, someone down the road could get shafted on this one as there are no public records the average joe could easily find on it.

that's odd. there are no accidents reported on the carfax for that vin

how do you 2 know this was the case when it's not even on public dealer database ?

Default I will look slowly

I want a fair deal and would prefer not to pay a dealer more than I feel good about. My last two Vettes were new and both yellow ZO6 cars, need a different color. Ha The ZR1s are really depreciating a lot each year. Only thing is the dealers don't want to pass it on yet with C6 cars. I don't blame them. New may be the best bet.

depends on the dealers. i'm currently shopping c6 base coupes and some dealers are willing to sell a car 500-1000 dollars over what they could get at manheim, others play this "we sell at kbb game"

all depends on the car and the dealer. i would think about one year from now would be prime buying time for any c6 model. gives the c7 a chance to be seen on the streets and people to trade in. more supply generally equals lower prices in the used market

Default I don't mind traveling

or having one sent to me by truck. I know all the arguments about buying now to enjoy. I have toys so no big deal. I live in Pa. and don't use a Vette much in the winter. I think for the right car I would buy tomorrow. In six to twelve months the Corvette world will see much lower C6 prices. Dealers who are truthful, that IS funny, know C6 cars are really dropping. Anyone want to sell a clean ZR1 for what they are really worth? Or wait six months and see if they go up in value. Just kidding, thanks for your help.
