Default Weatherstripping & Molding Bulging

Anyone else experience this? Dealer says the part alone that wraps completely around to the other side is like $500+. UGH!

First...I would check out some of the "Forum Vendors" for any part you need for your Vette. I have found a tremendous difference in price from my local dealer vs them.

Second...I would find where that strip starts and pull it out till you get to the part that bulges and see if the gripping part is damaged. You might be able to fix it and re-install it.

Actually, I just realized that I can put on something like this and it will solve my problem and make my car look better at the same time. Looks like the weatherstripping that is bulging on my car is included on this part and I don't need to spend a fortune at my GM service department on the underlying part that wraps around the whole windshield! UGH! Looks like they were trying to rip me off (or were ignorant of the part needed) and thanks to my research on Corvette Forums they're not going to get away with it! Whoohoo!

Where are those pillars from and what do they cost? My molding is flaking and would be nice to replace.

These particular ones are from this supporting vendor:
American Hydrocarbon

Here's the link directly to the C6 CORVETTE HYDROCARBON "A" PILLARS 05-10 Z06 on their website:

These are a direct replacement GM part finished in carbon fiber design. Lifetime Warranty against fading, cracking or peeling. Send back your old parts for a $50 refund.

You can also get real carbon fiber and painted to match your body color. Check out RPI.

Default C6 Corvette Real Carbon Fiber A-Pillar Trim

Not bad, and only a fraction of the cost. The only this is that I need a complete replacement as my weatherstripping is coming off, but I could always put one of these on afterwards if I so choose. Thanks for sharing. Here's the details of the carbon fiber part you mentioned for others to see:

Item Name: C6 Corvette Carbon Fiber A-Pillar Trim (set)
Item #: C6556
Price: ON SALE FOR $49.95 (Regularly $69.95)

http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=2082

We've all seen those "look a like" carbon fiber a-pillar trim pieces. We've come up with a real 100% true carbon fiber a-pillar trim insert kit. These have 3M adhesive built into the back, simply peel and stick. Sold as a set of two.

I've only seen the trim cover overlays that you stick on such as what I posted. If there's one made entirely of carbon fiber it must be very hard to find as well as very expensive!
