2002 AC Problems
I have seen this problem posted many times. My 2002 began blowing hot air on driver’s side, cold on passenger side. I replaced actuator with a Dorman, did not help, tried resetting it, no luck. Made sure Freon was charged, it was. Checked vacuum line, good shape. When I change mode on climate control it changes from dash to floor to defrost and air comes out of the correct vents, changing the mode works. However even on the defrost the drivers side of the defrost vent is warm and the passenger side is cold. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Those recharge kits aren’t the best way to check your Freon or to know if you have the correct amount…suggest you take the car to an AC specialist and let them recover the Freon and then put a vacuum on it to check for leaks and then let them properly put the correct amount of Freon in it !!

Classic failure mode when low on refrigerant due to the path that refrigerant takes through the dual zone evaporator core in the C5. The passenger side receives refrigerant first from the orifice tube where it goes from high pressure to low pressure, but with a low charge the system doesn't have the capacity to absorb enough heat to allow the driver's side airflow to feel cool.
