My 02 Z06 Feels like "old school"
With all this C6, C6 Z06 and all the other great news, I feel like my brand new 02 Z06 (to me 18 mos ago) is not so cool anymore. I mean alot of the younger guys I work with(mid 20's) hate the C4. I mean for Gees whiz, the '84 Vette was my graduation year super car. I still remember the day a girl at school drove it to school the first day. It seems now the C4 is a real classic, and the C5 is "long in the tooth". :nonod:

Get yourself a tweed driving cap and a sportcoat with elbow patches and you can be just like those greybeard geezers with MGTCs who say:
"You know, son, back in the day, this was THE best sports car on the road."

I think the C5 has classic good looks, that will stand the test of time better than the C4 or C3... I can't render my personal judgement on the C6 yet, I haven't gotten a good view of the whole car yet, but it does look quote a bit like a C5, maybe a bit more muscular...
The C2 and the C5 are "the" desirable Corvettes in my view.
So I wouldn't at all be dissappointed with your C5... I love them, and still will even after the C6 appears.
I'm thinking with the arrival of the C6 I might soon be able to afford a used C5, lotsa people are going to be trading up I'm betting, so there should be a good selection of C5s out there used in the spring/summer of '04. And lotsa C5s on the market will hopefully mean lower prices!

Well, it is old school!!!
The C5 bodystyle will have been around for 8 years come 2004. Time will march on and cars generally get better than their predecessor. However, if you like the car then it shouldn't matter if it's 2 years old or 32 years old. Enjoy it while you own it and get rid of it when you want something else.

All corvettes are part of the heritage. I am so sick of C4's getting dumped on. If it wasn't for the C4 the corvette program would have been cancelled. It was the first corvette that gained any respect outside of america. Everything else before it was considered a joke ( i dont think it was but thats just the way it was perceived). The C4 is the best so far in my mind cause it has the raw aports car feel of the earlier vettes and the technology and creature comforts to make it modren enough. And sorry to say it still looks sweet. A C4 vert with the top down is a drop dead georgeous looking car, i can't get gas without people coming up to me and wanting a closer look. They are all vettes, drive what you enjoy. I could put a C5 in the driveway tomorrow if i wanted but i just dont care for them, different strokes. Just keep :steering: and :seeya . Most of the C4 bashing is just uneducated garbage.
BTW the C6 looks SWEET!!! Now that may be something i need to buy in the future. For now the C4 will continue to suffice

Robertpel9's car in his sig still looks classy... ...the C5 will always be sweet. Just because the C6 is new it creates a lot of conversation. If you aren't a Corvette enthusiast you probably wouldn't know which is a '95 or '05 assuming they're in great shape. This being said...I need a C6.

Re: My 02 Z06 Feels like "old school" (Vette Lag)
Just drive your Z06 and it will feel cool to you again :D
The Z06 will always be highly regarded in Corvette history despite its relatively high production levels. The simple reason is that performance never goes out of style. I mean the performance the Z06 puts out is legendary.
Look at the Shelby Cobra 427 S/C for example - it's a different animal from a Z06, I know. But its performance is what made it so highly regarded to this day. It's a legend because of its performance - not because of the way it looks or the design of its interior. The ZR-1 is another example - it was (and arguably still is) King of the Hill for it's day, and it's respected for that today, even though it is no longer considered state-of-the-art.
And the Z06 has the performance (and the name) to be respected for a LONG time - long after it is out-performed by newer and more advanced C6's, and C7's.

80's cars suck because they show their age. They're obsolete yet still young enough not to be considered a classic. I agree with someone who said that 50's-70's are beautiful cars. When one rolls past it's like a wave of respect fills you up. They're relics. Legends. Artifacts. They're just cool man. No one wants to go back to the 80's with "Rush rush for the yay-yo" and leg warmers. Sorry but maniac sucks. And so did those stupid haircuts.

Re: My 02 Z06 Feels like "old school" (Vette Lag)
As someone who has owned most all of the styles, I have to chime in also. First off, the C5 is a remarkable car and always will be. I am actively searching for a convertible now for my wife. She will only consider the C5 as a driver. Me personally, I love the look of the C4 ragtop. For some reason, it just has the brute racy look. Having said that, if I were only to have 1 Vette, it would have to be a chrome bumper Shark car. The chrome bumper sharks are becoming very desirable, if you don't believe it, just check recent pricing for a nice one. They are becoming the next collectible just as the mid-years have been for years. And yes, I do believe the C4's will be sought after in future years. Every generation of Vettes have become classics and in time, there is no reason why the C4 will not achieve this status too.
Just my opinion and remember, were all Vette fanatics and every generation is special to us.

It just hasn't come around yet. I graduated from high school in the late 70s and I'd have sworn that I'd never see the day when bell bottoms and disco would be "nostalgic". Give the 80s another ten years and you'll all over yourself looking for that classic 'Flock of Seagulls' cassette to go with your CFI clamshell hooded, way-cool, first gen C4. (With the bitchin' round tailights just like the C6)
