Default I need advice please!

My father has offered me his 99 C5 with 5k miles for a great price. Last night I ran across a 67 roadster for roughly the same price. The 67 is in great shape. I just finished restoring and selling a 69 GTO so I am not sure I want another classic. On the other hand, the 67 is the greatest car I have ever seen. I do however, want a Vette I can drive. I am afraid I want be able to enjoy the 67. Please help me decide.

If I had this choice I would jump on the 67 once it has been checked out. You can always buy a C-5 ; but , this could be your last shot at a 67 . The 67 will not decrease in value and the C-5 will. If the 67 is a good car it just won't be around for long and some a---- will get it and want too much money for it. Just my opinion--

If you need a car for daily transportation, you should probably go with the C5. If not, then decide how much wrench turning you are willing to do.

Same price NOW :yesnod: The '67 can only ESCALATE in value ;) , while your dad's will continue to decline  If I was mechanically inclined, I'd go with the '67 :smash: :smash:

If the 67 is a driver, then you could prob enjoy it as much as the C5. But if it is an original car, I would be reluctant to put a lot of miles on it. If this car will be your only means of transportation, I would definately go with the C5. Also as others have noted, the C2 will only go up in value, whereas C5s are depreciating more like other used cars.

Good Luck

Thank you for all of the great advice. Neither car will be my daily driver, but I want to enjoy both.

You didn't say anything about the engines or trans on either car. If you want my advice, get the '67. I own a coupe and a convertible. At a cruise, car show, gas station, restaurant, or just at a red light, you get people (women) complementing you on the car. Also the '67 is arguably the most sought after vette.

The 67 roadster has match#'s 327/300hp with sidepipes. The C5 is a M6 stock, black on black.

I have a 64 and a Z06 so maybe I can help you. The C5 is comfortable, fast, easy to drive and gets great gas mileage. If this is your only car and you might want to travel at all, the C5 is the only way to go. Its a great car for driving a lot. The mid-year is cool to have but in my opinion its not what you would like to drive like I just described. The comfort level of the mid-year over a period of time will diminish the thrill of ownership in a car that is a regular driver. Having said that I can tell you that I never go more than a mile or so in the 64 without people waving, giving me the thumbs up sign, big smiles and generally a lot of attention!! Old vettes are cool and everybody loves them. Its a bummer when practicality has to be considered in owning these great old cars. The great thing about it is they are both Corvettes!! You can't go wrong.

bo, I sold my 99 C5 to get the 65 396 you see here. Best thing I ever did.

My tastes have changed again, so the 65 you see in my sig is for sale. Do the right thing......

Put a couple of orthopedic seats in the 67 and drive the wheels off of it.

I own a 2000 Coupe and recently purchased a '67 427/435 Coupe. I now believe that if one of them had to go, it would be the 2000. I guess I've been bitten by the restoration bug (or is it a disease).

My wife doesn't like the '67 out on the road because of other drivers and something terrible going wrong with it. I don't consider it a daily driver, though it easily could be.

So, if one's gotta go, I'd sell the 2000 and get some lesser-expensive daily driving car. The way we're going, in a year or so it will be something capable of carrying a child :)
