Default Carbon fibre hood

I think a hood made out of carbon fibre with clear coat on it would look really good on my black C5 FRC.

Question is, does anybody know where to buy one or do I have to make my own, just like the parts I had to do for the Viper?

The MCM hood has an option for a clear carbon fiber center portion that looks very The rest is painted.

It sounds like you are looking for an all carbon fiber hood, VIS makes one. I can only see that looking ok on a black C5 like yours, any other car it just looks a little too rice.

The fiberglass hood is already pretty light, any difference in weight wouldn't be too apparent.

Isnt the '04 Z16 hood all carbon fiber? If so you can just get one of those and have it clear coated.

MCM also makes a stock replacement CF hood, too. Not all of their hoods are high rises. Its probably has a primer coat on it though.

Not true. The carbon fiber hood I have is quite a bit lighter than the stock C5. So much so that you have to hand close it from each side as the struts will not allow it to be drop closed as the stock hood could be.

You come here asking for help and insult the hundreds of people who have an MCM hood, the best carbon fiber production hood on the planet for a C5 or C6. the fit is world class, but then you said " I guess I am on my own "

And you should be on your own, you lack any respect for us here.. why not go over on the Viper forum and ask there.. to add insult here. you chose a Viper screen name here on a corvette forum , are you too dumb to realize you can have more than one screen name. Or are you just a Viper troll..

Don't sweat it, he's just a little old and cranky at times. Judging from your post history, I'd say people are just a little too hasty to think that your full of . You might not even know about the MCM hood, and you certainly don't have to like it. That being said, I'm sure you could do a search for carbon fiber hoods, or you could PM the resident carbon fiber expert (FLATOUT) for assistance. Good luck finding what you want.

for $895 VIS makes an exact dup of the stock one in CF, high gloss, just what you're looking for.

Looks good to me. Somewhere there as a super cheap one for racing too, fit wasn't spectacular, had to drill your own mount holes here and there, but it was the tune of $450 if I remember correctly.

can't find it off hand, here's the VIS one:

I guess everyone has their own tastes.
