Default Oil Filter cooler ?

When I rebuild my engine do I need to put that hose and cooler that goes under the filter back on or can I plug the hole where the hose comes out of the block and just use the spin on filter plate? THANKS GUYS

You can delete the cooler, but count on 10-15 degree higher oil temps. I tested mine with an without last summer, 10-15 higher is what I got.

I plugged the block hole and pluged the T on the feeder hose from the water pump.

As you say but need to replace the 2 special bolts that mount the cooler with 2 normal hex head ones

There have been previous posts about the inability of cleaning these properly with the result that crap could come lose into the oiling system at a later date.

Why do you want to take the cooler out? I admit the piping is similar to something you would find on an AMC Pacer, but it works.
