Default Need A Good Corvette Mechanic In Chicago

I need a good reliable mechanic in the Chicago area. These shops are killing me. I have a 1987 coupe. It was overheating I took it to several shops and they told me it was a head gasket. So I read the forums. I checked for leaks and replaced the t-stat. Car hasn't overheated since.

Can someone recommend a good mechanic in the Chicago area.

Please PM or email me: chicagomods@yahoo.com

YES! YOU!

Invest in a FSM, spend some time reading it and start doing your own work. It is fun, rewarding, and you'll save a ton of money, as you saw with the thermostat.

RACE ON!!!

D&M Corvette in Downers Grove on Ogden Ave. All they do is vettes. They are not cheap! They are the best and most reliable. ( Tom) is service manager.

Sell your C4 and buy a vette with a warranty or you will get screwed by the Chicago area mechanics that can work on 4th gen corvettes. I learned my lesson and eventually sold my C4. Best decision i've made in awhile.

Either that or learn to work on the car yourself as I would not trust any of the shady Chicago C4 mechanics to work on my vette (if I still had one that is)

Good luck.

I would give Rick Anthony a shot and see what he has to say. Speed Inc. in Schaumburg did all the work on my new top end and I have no problems so far after 8 trips down the track and 7000 miles. Not sure if there good at trouble shooting the c4 like Rick Anthony might be.

D&M is a winner. They dont just do vettes no either they do muscle cars and street rods. Tom Farah is a good guy. I also know Henry does good work too. D&M is a pricey shop, but they get the job done well, and they are very professional. With my experience I would recoomend them.

Rick,
I have a '74 that has been stored for 20-25 years. Do you work on projects like this?
