Starting 87 TPI after sitting for 3 years
I want to get my 87 TPI running. I've cleaned out the gas tank. The fuel wasn't really nasty. Pickup coil in distributor was bad so it's out for fixing. Think I'll run the oil pump with a drill before putting it back in. It turned over easy already. Has coolant, didn't seem to leak out anywhere.
Where it's at I'm not interested in trying to change the fuel filter.
I've got the brilliant idea to pull the return line and run the fuel pump until fresh fuel comes back to the tank before we try and start it. Good idea?
Anyone dealt with firing up a car that's been down a long time? I'm thinking I give the new gas a serious dose of Hot Shot too.
Somethings going to happen this weekend....
Open to suggestions!

Melting Slicks
Don't have a problem with most of your plan, I would Pop off the feed side of fuel rail so Not to push semi nasty fuel into rail flush with clean and then push the rest of the old out as planned once happy change the filter.

Ran about a quart out return line
actually saw water in the bottle
pressure wen right up to 40PSI
Started right up even with a guess on timing, since distributor pickup was replaced
early Lucas injectors are tuff!
