Not difficult at all. Look in the C-4 Tech section at the top for a "sticky" about headlights. It covers the entire procedure with pic's.

Before you spend the insane amount of money on the motor, are you sure it's the motor and not just the bushings that need to be replaced?

True. 95% of all 1987 - 1996 C4's with headlight problems are bushing-related. I'm no ballah, but I'd rather spend $5 for bushings than $300 plus for a new motor, wouldn't you?

My left seems to take longer to finish it's cycle of turning on and off than the right. Any ideas what it could be?

What year Vette? C4's had two different motor setups.

Look in the stickies at the top of the page - it may take a little digging but there used to be a good thread with pics. You can also use the "search" - there have been many headlight motor threads over the years.

It's one of those jobs which is a PITA the first time but once you get the hang of it it's no big deal.

BTW - it's common to have the thing 180 degrees off when you put it back, which results in one up and one down, or refusing to work at all. Don't panic.

Did the research for you:

Here's the Do It Yourself index:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-g...ps-w-pics.html

Here's the procedure (no pics)

Have fun, most of us deal with that sooner or later!

I bought my Vette from a lifelong friend who was a very good mechanic, however he was not computer literet. The left headlight gave him trouble about ten years ago so he bought a new motor from the Chevy dealer and installed the motor. After I bought his Vette The right headlight started to give me trouble so I followed the helpful tips and printed the instructions to just put new bushings in the motor gear. My good friend spent $250 ten years ago and I spent $15 bucks and the light works just fine. Take your time and you will be proud of you job when the light spins around and then stops when it should. I just love how the Vette lights spin around when I turn them on, but I love everything about my 90 Quasar Blue beauty.
