engine and ehaust fit
i have a 77... not the Original motor...i think its out of a mid 70s camaro. it has headers and sidepipes now with original 69 side pipe covers.. i believe the ehaust is a c2 custimized to fit before i got the car... i just got a set new 69 sidepipes... soooo... id like to get these new pipes to fit correctly. will any small block chevy manifolds fit? just ones for a 77? or do i need to find out what the motor is and search for those exact manifolds.

Any SBC ramhorn manifolds will fit.. It doesn't matter if the head came off of a '55 265 V8 or a 2002 350 Vortec engine. Personally, I recommend that you go with a shorty header the very least. Flow should be a little better and you might save yourself at least 10lbs/per each side. those stock manifolds are small boat anchors. Also another option would be Heddman's side exit headers. I ran them for a while and was happy with them.

Hi j,
I really don't know very much about what fits on what engine. But, don't you also need to take into consideration the bracket for the alternator since it mounts to the front of the manifold and block? Or are all manifolds set up for the bolt?
Regards,
Alan

The rear brace for the AC compressor is usually an issue, as well. There is a simple welded bracket that is usually sold along with the header to address it.

I know on my late 77, the rear ac mount just uses a longer stud. keep in mind, i have the harrison compressor too, so the setup may vary.

the side pipes are like straight pipes... i have new side pipes and just want it to fit correctly... the pipe on there now was welded like 3 times to get it to fit... i just want the correct headers for 69 sidepipes... just no straight answer as to what will fit

there isn't any correct pipes from headers to sidepipes unless the complete system is in one package......and, expensive....however a custom exhaust made at a muffler shop could fabricate the necessary pipes to connect the headers to the side pipes....one that has a good pipe bender man....
