First time I saw this thread. Nice video. Glad to see someone else driving their C3 hard on the track.

You like your Toyo 888's? I haven't stepped up to that level yet. I'm still running more of a street tire - Toyo R1R's. The 888's might be my next step up.

Keep us posted .

Thanks for reading the thread Jason.

The Toyo 888 works fine.
I haven't tested any other modern tires on my car, only the old BFG:s witch are good all-round street tires for cruising but are lousy on the track.

I suffered from braking problems the whole day and when I got home and unloaded my car from the trailer the brakes was all gone..
It proved out to be a blown seal in the master cylinder allowing no pressure at all to the rear brakes and totally frying the front pads..
Well such is life.

Here's another video from the same event:

Hi Ricky
watched the second video right now. it seems you had fun at the track...

what type steering on your car? i don't recall
it seems very nicely responding on that racetrack

i use the same steering wheel you have but mine is heavy as hell and cannot turn it as easy as you do.But mine is manual and with bump steer blocks that makes it even heavier than stock. I want to keep my car's steering stock ( so no Borgeson or rack and pinion) and sometimes thinking to put back the oem power steering but not sure because of added weight on the front ( 24lbs) and loose feeling of stock PS.

I'm thinking also to use narrower front tires ( Avon CR6zz 225/65r15 instead than 245/60r15 ) to make the steering lighter. It may work...

btw , i like how you handle the car. It seems real fun...

at how many rpm is the shift light setted?

Do they allow brake cooling ducts in your class? I was warping front rotors before I installed them, and now I haven't had any problems at all. I know that wasn't your current problem. Just a thought.

I only am running 2" hoses right now due to space constraints, but they still help.

Also, nice seats . I just bought the exact same one for my car ..... I broke my factory seat last time at track. I was having a horrible time staying upright in the corners anyway so I guess it was time to upgrade. Funny thing is, seat belt retractor broke 2 days after also. I think my car is trying to tell me something.

Hi Aldo.

I have a Steeroids powersteering R&P, it works fine I think.

I wouldn't go back the stock steering for any money in the world.

The shiftlight is set to lit at 5500rpm and the rev limiter is set to 6000rpm.

Hi Jason, thanks again for reading my thread.

The class I attended in the last two videos is Time Attack Stock and there are no limitations for the brakes in that class.

I have removed my shields for the discs on all 4 wheels and also have one 4" hose blowing air into the center of the disc + one 4" hose directing air to the caliper on the front wheels.

I am very pleased with the Kirkey seats, they do a great job.

The car still runs great!

I have increased the size of the air inlets for cooling to the front brakes.
At the same time i Went up one level and changed the pads to Porterfireld Race Pads.

The added coling together with the new pads really made some diference!

Its a pleasure to drive the old bitch.

We where three C3 Corvettes and some C5 and C6 that attended to this course.

-All C3:s where bigblock cars.

Ricky
really beautiful pics.
just a question : why don't you remove the hardtop and take windows down? It will help in lowering the center of gravity

when i took my 69 to the track i did so ( T-top off)

Thanks guys.

I like the hardtop as it is and have been running with it on the car the whole summer.

Im afraid i also must admit that its not the center of gravity that stops me from going faster, its more like lack of experiense.

However i still work on tuning the car and also attending as many trackdays and driving courses i can manage.
-Slowly getting there..

This coming weekend its time for the Club Corvette Sweden Oldies Racing Championship.

i watched your video at Knutstorp and your driving tecnique seems fine to me . from the video i can't see things like braking, shifting etc but the way you handle the turns is correct.

I just think that your racetrack is not the best for a Vette : too slow . all the turns are too close together. In such a racetrack a shorter wheelbase, lighter and less powerful car will do better than you anyway.

i think that our vettes likes somewhat faster racetrack where you can take advantage of the power.

but are you still running without an accusump or other oil control system?

what held me back in the 2 trackdays i made was just the oil pressure drop. after seeying the oil pressure gage going down at every single turn , i decided to take it easy and take my ( expensive ) engine at home. Otherwise the car was great ( my racetrack is faster than your and better suited)

Aldo
