Default ? for those with Canton pan/Canton dipstick

What did you use to plug the hole in the block where the stock dipstick went?

Why would you want to plug it? I'm using the stock dipstick. :steering:

I'm not using the stock dipstick and I don't want oil to pour out. My windage tray does have the hole in it for the dipstick to pass through. But I can't get the dipstick to hit the hole. So it won't read any oil. I think it is mainly due to the way I have the tube bent for the headers. So I said screw it and I bought the canton dipstick that threads into the fitting on the top side of one of the wings of the pan. The new dipstick works great. But I didn't see the point in leaving the stock dipstick in the block and would prefer to just plug the hole. Not that it will probably hurt anything having two dipstics - one that works and one that doesn't. Just seems goofy and why clutter up the engine bay. I thought there might be a plug out there somewhere for this purpose, rather than having to fab something up.

If memory serves, 5/16 cap plug. Use 2, one on top of the other. check bottom of dipstick with open end wrench to be sure. :chevy

Are you referring to something similar to a small freeze plug? The hole is a couple thou less than 3/8. So maybe a 3/8 plug will do the trick. Sure don't want it to fall in though.

That worries me  make sure the tray is aligned.

I think it is mainly due to the way I have the tube bent for the headers.
To check this use a shorter length of rod to see if they're inline or not.
You can get flexible dipstick tubes.

The tray is fixed into the pan and really doesn't have any adjustment. I could have enlarged the hole or clearanced as ID85 did, but didn't look at this in advance. I think for now since I have a working dipstick option it is best to just plug the hole.
