62 Windows stick
I own a 62 that I am thinking about adjusting the windows. I can roll them up or down but I have to guide the window with my hand and wiggle it back and forth. Does anybody have knowledge on how hard and expensive this will be or should I have my mechanic fix it.
Thanks for the help,
John

It really isn't that difficult to get to the window regulator and slides. Unscrew the door handle ****, use a dental probe with a 90 degree hook for removing the retainer clips from the door lock and window crank handle. Remove the screws holding the door panel. At the bottom of the door is an access panel. Remove the panel for viewing of the assembly. You should be able to determine what is wrong when you wind the window up and down. Whether you can fix it yourself will depend on how agile and double jointed you are. It may simply require some lubrication. Good luck!

Re: 62 Windows stick (kcust62)
Had a roller broken on mine (same type of problem), which required replacement. Parts available, but I chose to make a new roller out of brass.
Good luck,

Also need to be sure the rollers are properly in the channels and that the glass is moving freely in the rear channel. Also, the channels must be aligned so that the glass is not in a bind. It's all really pretty simple if you'll break the door down so you can see what's going on. Good directions in the ST12.

The ST12 is the factory service manual for 53-62 Vettes. It is available from any of the catalog vendors, the NCRS bookstore, or frequently on eBay. Probably amazon.com as well. Usually costs about $25, but you may be a ble to get a bit cheaper through NCRS if you are a member.
There is a Chilton manual I see on eBay frequently that is basically a reprint of the ST12.
There is also a book by Clymer that is long out of print titled "Corvette V8 Owner's handbook". I see them on ebay fairly often. They are an excellent book to have, since they have some info not in the ST12.
