Paint Protection$$$
The aftermarket parts houses sell a clear strip of plastic to protect the deck lid paint from scratches from the hardtop and ragtop weatherstripping. Cost $25 or so. Hate to spend that kind of dough for such a minor piece of plastic.
Anyone use a cheap subsitute? Where from?
thanks, Bob

How much is your paint job worth to you ???
Some here have cut out strips from a clear vinyl softtop rear window to make their own protectors (but they are thicker than store bought). I cut up an old black rubber floor mat to make protectors for the hardtop. Nothing tricky about it.
NOTE: The vendors sell TWO versions of these strips....they are different for the hardtop vs softtop.

I bought the decklid protectors two years ago. The jury is still out. I can't seem to get them to stay in place. Could be that my top doesn't fit really, really tight to the decklid or maybe I'm not getting enough static in them to make them adhere.
