Anyone have stats on NCRS TopFlight Award scores for C2’s?
I am an NCRS member and purchased a 1966 Corvette L72 that was awarded the TopFlight award Texas Chapter Meet Austin in 2016 with a final score of 99.2. I have all the judging sheets..
Could anyone tell me the following please?
1) How many Corvette C2’s (1963-1967) have received a TopFlight award with a score greater than or equal to 99.2? Either the total number or % of total.
2) How many 1966 Corvette C2’s have received a TopFlight award with a score greater than or equal to 99.2? Either the total number or % of total.
3) How many 1966 Corvette C2’s with L72 Bigblock 427/425 have received a TopFlight award with a score greater than or equal to 99.2? (Either the total number or % of total)
Ive already sent this request a while ago to NCRS contact without any success and so
NCRS Summary Judging Sheet
would really appreciate if anyone has this info as I met a person that is potentially doing a documentary on C2’s and my corvette might be included! Thanks!

I don't think NCRS keeps the raw score just what flight it got. The scoring sheets go back to the owner. So you're not going to find any of you want. Plus your car was judged eight years ago. Get your car judged again

Has anyone done any informal surveys here to see who has the highest scores?
And yes I’d love to get her judged again as she’s been maintained to highest standards since the judging so I’d expect similar score today. Problem is she’s now in France so how can I get her judged here?

contact someone from the European Chapter of the NCRS and see where the closest meets are.

I think you will find a lot of cars judged at a chapter event will have higher scores versus a regional and national event where the quality of judges make it much more difficult to
reach that high level of scoring .

I would suggest the Dutch Chapter, they have more experienced judges.

more experienced judges will probably get you a lower score, they have more experience to see things are not typical factory, whereas a less experienced judge may not see that bolt stamping or paint tint to hinder points.
plus a fire extinguisher and driving your own car in will get you makeup points so a less typical car could get more points than a more typical car.
more points in general may mean more typical, but it is not always.

Would be surprised if you could get that level of detail from NCRS. And in general, at least in my experience, chapter meets, by nature, are a bit less demanding (and less stressful) than a full blown regional or national. That said, you will not find any more stringent judging platform than NCRS. I bought the latest '65 judging guide recently and was blown away with the level of detail that is now in use...much more stringent than when I was last into the Top Flight chase.

The Tijuana Taxi is currently running an alcohol-powered 393 small block Chevy from Seth’s Engines and burns about four gallons each quarter mile. The Taxi consistently runs in the 9s and Lew’s best time was 9.38 at 144 mph.
Stitely has retired from his Department of Public Welfare job after 35 years and now he races the Taxi full time. When asked why he continues racing the classic C1 gasser, Stitely says ?This car let’s you escape, and go back to when times were good and pure. That’s what I grew up with. These older cars are truer to the history of the sport of drag racing. They remind me of how it was racing 40 years ago.
Couldn't have said it better, myself.
